Sayyidina Mohamed Al-Atrees

He is Mohammed Ibn Abu al-Majd Abdul Aziz al-Qurashi, the brother of our master Ibrahim al-Dusuqi. He died in the second half of the 7th century AH and left instructions to be buried in the place within the al-Zayniyy precinct where he used to hold worship sessions and preach for most of his life.

The word ‘atrees’ means strong and powerful.

Ibrahim al-Dusuqi had ten brothers all of who were from among the righteous servants of Allah.

From a very young age, Sheikh al-Atrees studied the Qur’an, hadiths (Prophetic traditions), and usul al-fiqh (principles of jurisprudence) according to al-Shafi’i’s methodology. He lived close to al-Azhar. His knowledge and virtues were manifest and his fame spread. He was surrounded by the followers of the Ibrahimi [sufi] order which was founded by his brother Ibrahim al-Dusuqi.
