Location: The city of Kafr al-Shaykh – Masjid of Sayyid Talha
Shaykh Saa’ed Talha bin Madyan bin Shu’ayb al-Tilmisany al-Maghribi, was born in the month Rabee’a al-Awal in 564 AH, into a family that has a lineage going back to the Prophet Muhammadﷺ. He (may God be pleased with him) came from the North African countries of Islam to the land of Egypt. When he arrived in Egypt, he settled permanently in the middle of an island between two lakes to worship God with his sons Saeed, Ali and Umar. Due to their presence the people began to visit the island in large numbers because of the strong effects the Shaykh had on them. Eventually, a settlement erected around Shaykh Talha’s quarters which was to be named “Kafr al-Shaykh Talha” meaning “The Town of Shaykh Talha.” This is presently the capital of the Egyptian province Kafr al-Shaykh. Shaykh Talha passed away on the 15th night of Ramadan in the year 631 AH leaving behind a legacy of humbleness and generosity with seekers from all parts of society.
